Who we are

ReelTrip lets you create and manage trips, extract places from reels and carousels, and plan itineraries and routes. This notice describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Data we collect

• Account: Email address and password (stored securely by our auth provider).
• Profile: Display name and profile photo (optional).
• Trips and locations: Titles, destinations, dates, and the places you add to your trips (names, addresses, coordinates).
• Photos: When you add photos (e.g. in the add-flow or as a profile picture), we access only the images you choose; we do not scan or access your full photo library and do not store them as permanent raw media.
• Content you provide: URLs you paste or video/image files you upload for extraction. These are processed to extract place names and are not stored as permanent raw media.
• Usage: We may log use of certain features (e.g. API usage for limits and cost control) and, if enabled, error reports to improve the service.

How we use your data

• To create and manage your account and profile.
• To provide the app: trips, locations, extraction, enrichment (e.g. addresses and coordinates), itinerary, route, and map.
• To improve and operate the service (caching, limits, and optional error reporting).

Who we share data with (processors)

We use the following services that process data on our behalf:

• Supabase – authentication, database, and file storage. Storage is used for profile photos (avatars) and for cached place imagery (photos of places shown on cards and in the app, sourced from Google Places API and cached temporarily for performance). Cached place imagery is retained for up to 30 days and is not used for any purpose other than displaying place photos in the app. If our Supabase project is in a region outside the EEA, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g. data processing agreement and standard contractual clauses where applicable).
• Our backend server – runs extraction, enrichment, routing, and geocoding.
• Google (Places API) – to enrich locations with addresses, details, and place photos when you use that feature. Place imagery displayed in the app may be provided by Google and is subject to Google’s terms and attribution requirements.
• Mapbox – to show maps and optimize routes.
• Sentry (optional) – error reporting if we enable it.
• Advertising: For free-tier users we show in-app banner ads. Our advertising partner (e.g. Google AdMob) may process data in accordance with its own policy.

These processors act on our instructions and are required to protect your data. We do not sell your personal data.

Retention

• Account and profile: Until you delete your account or ask us to delete your data.
• Trips and locations: Until you delete them or your account.
• Extraction input (URLs/files): Processed and not kept as permanent raw media.
• Cached place imagery: Place photos displayed in the app (sourced from Google and stored in our file storage) are retained for up to 30 days for performance, then removed. They are not used for any other purpose or shared with third parties beyond display in the app.
• Caches and logs: Other caches and logs are kept as long as needed for operation and limits; see our data protection summary for details.

Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access – request a copy of your personal data.
• Correction – ask us to correct inaccurate data.
• Deletion – ask us to delete your data or account.
• Portability – receive your data in a portable format.
• Object or restrict – object to certain processing or ask for restriction.
• Withdraw consent – where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it.

To exercise these rights, contact us at reeltripapp@gmail.com (or via the contact details in the app or on our website). We will respond within the time required by applicable law. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Security and changes

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data (secure auth, encryption in transit, access controls). We may update this notice; we will post the current version and, for material changes, notify you as required by law.
